Easter Reflection

Over the past week, I have been reflecting on my missed time in Rome, especially celebrating Easter Sunday in Rome. Easter was one of my most looked- forward to moments. It’s ironic that life went from celebrating Easter in the Vatican with the Pope, to celebrating Easter stuck in our homes. It’s crazy to see how life changed so drastically so quickly. I saw a Facebook post the other day equating our current situation with Jesus’ passion. At first, I found it odd that a person would compare the two instances. However, as I read more into it, the more inspiring the post became for me. The days before Jesus’ resurrection were dark, sad, and uncertain, much like times are for our world right now. After all the darkness, came the light and joy of Jesus’ resurrection. After reading the whole post, I stopped to reflect. The biggest lesson I learned from this article is that there is a light at the end of every tunnel. We have bad days; we have good days; we have days where we want to give up; we have days where we can’t wait to see what is coming for us. This is all part of life. God has never let us down before; he has given us trials and triumphs, but has never let us suffer for too long. Light is coming, freedom is on its way. All we have to do is pray. This Easter, I am going to pray for the Eternal City that had given me the best month of my life. The city of Rome fulfilled my dreams, gave me hope, and instilled values in me that I could have never imaged. I pray for the people of Rome, the culture I have learned to love, and the city that fulfilled my faith. Hopefully, I will see you soon!
